Thursday 19th November was Social Enterprise Day and our Chief Executive Matt Stevenson-Dodd, along with his fellow Social Enterprise Ambassadors, was invited to Number 10 Downing Street to meet the Prime Minister.
The PM said: “Whatever job an individual is doing for whatever social enterprise in the country, you are doing something very much bigger than simply the task that you are carrying out. You are actually making our country a better, fairer and more successful country. You are building communities in this country that, without your help, would not be strong at all. You are making a younger generation see the importance of community solidarity and people working together for the common good.”
The PM was joined at the reception by Minister for the Third Sector Angela Smith and Cabinet Office Minister Tessa Jowell, who announced the winners of the Social Enterprise Award 2010.
Matt said “It was an incredible opportunity to meet the Prime Minister, celebrate the achievements of Social Enterprise and also have a good look around Downing Street. You get a real sense of the history of the place and all the high level decisions that have been taken there over the years. It really was a great experience.”
